Vechory
2022-2024

Since 2022, my friends, Ukrainian students in Venice, founded the charitable organization Vechory. In collaboration with Venetian cultural associations, we organize events to raise funds for Ukrainian volunteer organizations. Through these events, we also introduce local residents and tourists to Ukrainian culture, national cuisine, and the work of Ukrainian artists.

In close collaboration with Vechory, I created numerous illustrations and designs for posters, menu layouts, large-format prints, and resized versions for social media posts

We collected your old clothes, sold them, ate some Ukrainian food, and most importantly helped two animal shelters: @krishtalo_official and @babentsyshelter who are saving and giving shelter to from the most bombarded cities of Ukraine. 1400 EUR that we collected were used to pay for surgeries and medical equipment necessary to save some of the, to build more shelters, and in addition to provide food for our 4-legged friends.

In the end of 2022, Ukraine faced its toughest winter since WWII, with russian attacks damaging nearly 60% of the country's power generation capacity between Oct. 2022 and Mar. 2023. This left schools, stores, restaurants, civilian homes, and hospitals in darkness. People struggled to stay warm without heating, light, or hot water during the harsh Ukrainian winter. That's why we decided to organize Vechory event, to raise money for electric generators for @ukraine_alive_2022. During our event, we managed to collect €900, all of which was sent to buy generators for hospitals.

In collaboration with artists based in Venice, northern Italy, and Ukraine, we organized an art market in the heart of Venice at Campo San Tomà. The event featured live music, incredible Ukrainian cuisine, and a vibrant atmosphere. Thanks to everyone's generosity and participation, we raised €2,415 and collected 25 kg of medical supplies for the volunteer organization @helpukraine_team.

50 Symbols of Resistance important images, events, personalities, and even memes of this war. Each of them, in one way or another, touched the whole country of Ukraine. Some boosted the people's morale, such as the Ghost of Kyiv or the route of the cruiser "moscow". Others entertained even during the most difficult days of a full-scale war - tractor troops oor stand-ups in bomb shelters. Many shocked the whole world with their tragedy. Symbols that have already become part of Ukrainian history. With the support of the illustrator @marikinoo whose works were exhibited during the event and @platfor.ma whose merchandise was sold, we have managed to collect 1175€ to support Ukrainian volunteer projects.

In collaboration with the incredible TOCIA! team, we organized an unforgettable two-day event at the Spiazzi space. The program featured a powerful exhibition-presentation of Irina Ozi heart-wrenching Silence Book, which explores the three occupational regimes in Ukraine: Soviet, Nazi, and Russian. Additionally, there were two screenings of iconic Ukrainian films, Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors and Luxembourg, Luxembourg. Of course, no event would be complete without magnificent traditional Ukrainian cuisine, including a special dish prepared by renowned Venetian chef Marco Bravetti.

Through our collective efforts, we managed to raise €4,214, which was used to purchase 300 thermal covers for

Vechory, in collaboration with Multisala Rossini in Venice, organized a screening of Mstyslav Chernov's Oscar-winning documentary, 20 Days in Mariupol. This powerful and heartbreaking film provided an unflinching look at the devastating realities faced by Ukrainians during Russia’s invasion. During the event, we not only reflected on the film's impact but also raised €1,616 for tactical medicine. These funds have been sent to @use_your_name to support their vital work on the ground.

Together with Scuola Grande di San Marco, we presented an exhibition that explored the profound and unsettling interpretation of "peace" as defined by Russia. Featuring eight powerful photographic works by Kostya Liberov and Vlada Liberova (@libkos), the exhibition transported viewers into the heart of Ukraine’s shattered streets, revealing the devastation caused by the Russian military invasion. This exhibition was more than a narrative; it posed a powerful question to the conscience: Is the "peace" proposed by Russia truly fair and enduring? It challenged the hollow rhetoric of distant “peace solutions” with unfiltered images of raw reality.

All donations raised during the event were directed to support the volunteer organization of tactical medicine, @use_your_name.
